SAVE THE DATE! 5th Annual International Alsace Varietals Festival February 2010 Tickets go on sale November 1, 2009 Wineries from around the world will participate in this annual festival celebrating Riesling, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc and other noble Alsace varietals. Anderson Valley, because of its cool climate, provides ideal growing conditions for Alsace varietals. Brought to the valley in the late-1960s, Gewürztraminer from Husch Vineyards, Lazy Creek Vineyards, and Navarro Vineyards soon defined the region for early wine explorers. Today, more local producers craft Alsatian-style wines, including Claudia Springs Winery, Esterlina Vineyards, Greenwood Ridge Vineyards, Handley Cellars, Londer Vineyards and Raye's Hill Vineyards & Winery, among others. Beyond the Anderson Valley, great wines in the Alsatian style can also be found in Germany, France, British Columbia, New York's Finger Lake region, the Pacific Northwest, and other select regions.
